The Unseen
T.L. Hines' novel, The Unseen is a page-turning expedition into the world of creeps, spies, and ventilation ducts.
Lucas likes to hide. He sits and watches office workers and diners as he travels through duct work, ceilings, and steam tunnels to connect with and create histories for the people who never even know he's there. But when he meets Donovan and is introduced to the Creep Club, Lucas's urban nightlife becomes more dangerous and complicated than he could have ever imagined.
Hines creates a world where everything goes bump in the night as he involves secret Chinese spy agencies, unmarked US government buildings, unwitting surveillance addicts and even a diner waitress in this tale that is large and enveloping. If there is a weakness here among the speeding chapters that keep the reader glued in his seat, it is that the twisted ending comes as a sort of otherworldly surprise in the midst of an otherwise concrete novel. That is not to say the ending is unbelievable, simply unexpected in a way that left this reader unsatisfied.
If you are a lover of mystery and suspense, or simply want a nice surface read, The Unseen will not disappoint. It is engaging, fluid, and well-written. This is the type of book you will set aside time for.
The Unseen is writen by T.L. Hines and published by Thomas Nelson, Inc., 2008
